Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services designed to maintain the resident's physical and emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications

A CNA/NAR or HHA certificate is preferred, but not required. The Care Attendant must possess sensitivity and aptitude for working with the elderly. The Care Attendant is required to have an ability to read, write and speak English, and complete and pass a state required background study form which checks for certain criminal convictions or serious maltreatment.

General Responsibilities

• Assist the resident with personal cares which may include all or some of the following: shampooing of hair, assist with showering, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares and foot cares if instructed to do so, medication administration, redirection of a confused resident, and all activities of daily living as assigned
• Assist with dressing, grooming and oral cares as assigned
• Assist in use of hearing aids and glasses for residents
• Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance. Promote independence, not dependence, with residents offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
• Assist with treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse
• Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc. Report changes to RN.
