Senior Companion – Mandarin or Translation App Skills

is seeking a compassionate, dependable companion to support a client residing in a nursing home. The client is open to applicants who are comfortable using phone translation apps to communicate, so speaking Mandarin fluently is not required.

This unique opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others feel comfortable, understood, and supported. The primary responsibility is to provide companionship and help facilitate communication between the client and nursing home staff. Traditional hands-on caregiving duties are not the primary focus of this position.

Position Details

• Location: Nursing home setting
• Language: applicants comfortable using a phone translation app are welcome to apply! Mandarin-speaking applicants also encouraged.
• Availability: Daytime shifts, including weekdays and weekends

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the client using a phone translation app to facilitate communication in Mandarin or fluent in Mandarin
• Provide companionship, reassurance, and social interaction
• Help the client understand daily activities and navigate routine interactions
• Communicate concerns or important updates to the appropriate family members and Home Helpers office

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to communicate in Mandarin or willingness to use a phone translation app
• Patient, compassionate, and dependable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work respectfully with nursing home staff and family members
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
