Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide

Overview

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Home Health Aide (HHA), you’ll provide compassionate, practical care in clients’ homes and community settings. You’ll support daily routines, observe changes in condition, and communicate clearly with clients, families, and care teams. Your impact: attentive, respectful care helps clients maintain comfort, dignity, and independence while giving families greater confidence in their care.

Duties

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, mobility, and safe patient transfers; use a Hoyer lift when appropriate and follow safe lifting practices.
• Monitor and report patient observations and vital signs; complete medical documentation and records in electronic medical record (EMR) or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Support meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and laundry while following the client’s care plan.
• Provide appropriate support with medication administration, catheter care, first aid, and basic life support (BLS) within your training and authorized scope.
• Deliver sensitive care for older adults and people with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, disabilities, or developmental disabilities, including memory, hospice, and end-of-life care; protect confidentiality under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Experience

• Required: Current CNA or HHA credentials as applicable to the role and local requirements; patient care, caregiving, client communication, and first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills.
• Preferred: Home health, home care, home and community care, or home health agency experience; assisted living, nursing home, senior care, geriatrics, or long-term care experience; live-in employment experience.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, home healthcare regulations, patient transfer methods, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Experience with geriatric patients, memory care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, or individuals with disabilities is valued.
