Job Location: Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, WV

Position Summary

Under the supervision of an assigned licensed nurse, provides complete or partial assistance to patients for personal care, activities of daily living (ADLs) and other duties as instructed by the licensed nurse. Manages a patient case load and provides support to patient/families in the Inpatient Unit. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• Minimum 1 year of CNA, nurse aide, nursing assistant, or home health aide preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and people skills.
• Contingent upon successful completion of drug screen, background check, and other screenings as applicable.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Frequent standing and walking for extended periods (8–12 hour per shift).
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Ability to push and pull equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers, and medication carts).
• Visual acuity to read medication labels, physician orders, and monitors.
• Auditory ability to assess patient needs and respond to alarms or calls for assistance.

Work Environment

• Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
• Frequent interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Fast-paced clinical settings with potential for high stress.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
