General Summary

The Nurse's Aide assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and activities of daily living.

Principal Duties

• Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, positioning, turning, toileting, and exercising.
• Distributes ice water and other beverages to resident rooms.
• Transports residents to and from activities and other locations as directed.
• Answers resident call lights and communicates individual needs to appropriate staff members.
• Reports recent activities and changes in resident conditions to Charge Nurse.
• Informs C.N.A.’s and licensed nurses of resident care needs.
• Performs errands and other duties as directive by the Charge Nurse.
• Cleans up resident rooms as needed.
• Performs inventory of resident room supplies and other supplies as needed.
• Marks residents’ personal items.
• Cleans and organizes resident closets.
• Assuring resident safety against all offenses including but limited to, Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation.

Other Duties

• Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment and equipment.
• Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.
• Attends in-service training and education session, as assigned.
• Participates in care-plan process for residents.
• Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and as instructed by the supervisor in a manner designed to emphasize resident safety and comfort and in accordance with all federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a State approved nursing assistance training program. (Certified by the State of Kansas)
• Registration with State required.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic.
• Ability to document care given.
• Prior geriatric nursing aide experience preferred.
