Job Summary

Duties

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and transfer methods.
• Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to nursing staff.
• Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with medication administration under supervision.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while respecting HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral support strategies.
• Facilitate patient transfers using proper manual handling practices to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across various units such as ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, or hospice care to deliver comprehensive patient service.

Skills

• Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including long-term care residents, pediatric patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care.
• Ability to perform basic life support (BLS), CPR, and vital signs monitoring confidently.
• Experience working in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU settings is highly desirable.
• Excellent caregiver communication skills paired with compassionate bedside manner to support patients’ emotional well-being.
• Physical stamina for heavy lifting and safe manual handling practices required to assist with patient mobility and transfers.
