Job Duties

• Report all unusual conditions, reactions or complaints of residents to nurse using the “Stop and Watch” tool unless it’s an emergency situation, then notify nurse immediately.
• Assist residents with personal hygiene, grooming, oral care, nail care (except diabetic resident or those receiving blood thinners), bathing, dining and any other physical tasks assigned within scope of training.
• Provide resident privacy by knocking on doors or ringing doorbells and greeting residents prior to entering room and pulling curtain or closing door when rendering personal care.
• Turn and reposition appropriate residents every two hours, or as per resident need, using pillows for positioning and comfort; provide frequent weights shifts if up in chair/wheelchair.
• Provide comfort measures, assist residents with toileting needs per care plan/toileting schedule; keep personal articles within reach of resident.
• Prepare residents for meals by assisting residents with oral hygiene and hand washing before meals.
• Supervise meals to be sure all residents’ dining needs are met; provide assistance and encouragement with eating as residents’ condition indicates.
• Apply alarms, therapeutic devices and TED hose per resident’s care plan to maintain positioning, promote mobility and safety; ensure that devices are functioning properly.
