CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant

Under licensed nursing, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides nursing care to an individual at our Home. Assist the nurse and consultant with examination and treatments of patients; motivate and assist patients in developing and utilizing their maximum potential for self-care, and do other related work.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Completed state-approved CNA certification training course
• Possess a valid California state driver's license.
• Have a minimum of 6 months of experience in providing direct care to people with developmental disabilities in a residential care facility.
• Must be in good health, which we will verify by a health screening, including a test for tuberculosis.
• Must pass a criminal record clearance through the live scan process.
• Must have valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Must complete DSP (Direct Support Professional) 1 (One year after employment) and DSP 2 (Two years after hire).
• Must have received training or demonstrated prior experience in principles of good nutrition, proper food preparation and storage, menu planning, housekeeping and sanitation regulations, recognition of early signs of illness and need for professional assistance, universal precautions, and knowledge of community services and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide adjunct medical care for the patient, including ice packs and non-sterile dressings, to assist the residents with medication passes.
• Records vital signs, weight, and height; measures and records dietary intake and urinary and fecal output and daily record information in the client's chart
• Observes or examine residents to detect symptoms that may require medical attention.
• Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures and abide by federal and state regulations.
• Assist in life skills, such as bathing, physical rescue, and wheelchair assistance.
