What does a Therapeutic Program Worker do at the Veterans Homes?

A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.

Assists with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, assist with feeding Transport and attends activities or programs with residents Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas Applies safety & infection control measures Assists with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge & transfer of residents
