Home Health Aide

Job Overview

As a Home Health Aide, you’ll provide practical, respectful support that helps clients remain safe and comfortable at home and in the community. You’ll assist with personal care, daily routines, and household tasks while observing changes in each client’s condition and communicating them to the care team. Your impact: attentive, consistent care helps clients and families navigate daily needs with dignity and confidence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, mobility, and patient transfers; use a Hoyer lift when appropriate and follow safe lifting practices.
• Observe clients, take vital signs as assigned, and report changes promptly; support medication administration and catheter care only as authorized and within applicable requirements.
• Prepare meals, cook, clean, and do laundry while supporting clients’ preferences and routines.
• Document care and observations in electronic medical record (EMR) or electronic health record (EHR) systems, maintain accurate medical records, and protect confidentiality under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Communicate clearly with clients, families, and care teams while following home health regulations and care plans.

Qualifications

• Patient care, caregiving, home health care assistance, and patient personal care experience are valuable; experience with geriatric patients, senior care, home care, or home and community care is preferred.
• Experience in assisted living, nursing homes, long-term care, home health agencies, or live-in roles is helpful, as is experience supporting people with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
• Familiarity with Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, hospice, or end-of-life care is preferred; medical terminology and medical documentation knowledge are helpful.
• First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or basic life support (BLS) training is valued. Follow safe patient transfer methods and maintain patient confidentiality.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
