In Home Caregiver

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Caregiver to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in private homes, and community-based settings. Responsibilities include assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, toileting, meals, mobility, and transfers. Caregivers provide supervision, promote independence and dignity, monitor health and safety, implement risk mitigation strategies, and follow applicable behavioral support plans. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and committed to providing person-centered care that enhances each individual’s quality of life.

Duties

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption while respecting dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident areas and assisting with laundry
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety during transfers and personal transportation needs
• Document observations accurately in care records, communicate effectively with clients and team members, and uphold residents’ rights at all times

Experience

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
• Experience providing dementia or Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or neurodevelopmental disorders support is advantageous
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, resident’s rights, care plans, and patient transfer methods is essential
• Hands-on experience with manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts and performing CPR or first aid certifications are required or highly desirable
• Background working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities—is a strong plus
• Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while maintaining a caring attitude towards clients of all ages—especially seniors—is crucial
