Rapid Response Caregiver
Visiting Angels of East Central Indiana | Anderson, Indiana
Serving Madison, Delaware, Henry, Grant, Hancock, Blackford & Randolph Counties
Flexible / On-Call | $17–$19 per hour + Rapid Response Differential + Monthly Bonus Eligibility
*Rapid Response Isn't Just a Position. It's a Standard.*
When a family's care plan suddenly changes—a caregiver calls off, an urgent coverage need arises, or a client needs someone sooner than expected—our Rapid Response Caregivers are the team members we trust to step in.
You help restore coverage quickly, bring calm into an unexpected situation, and make sure a client receives the same dignity, compassion, and quality of care they deserve from every member of our team.
Rapid Response Caregivers are dependable. Adaptable. Confident. They can walk into an unfamiliar home, review the Care Plan, connect with the client, and provide excellent care without needing everything to go exactly as planned.
If flexibility fits your life, people know they can count on you, and reliability is something you take personally, we want to meet you.
Is This You?
- People can count on you—and you take that seriously.
- You genuinely enjoy improving the daily life of an older adult.
- You can walk into an unfamiliar home, assess the situation, and bring a calm, professional presence with you.
- You communicate quickly and clearly, even when your answer to a shift request is “no.”
- You don't need constant supervision to do the right thing.
- You pay attention to details and follow a Care Plan as written.
- You understand that being dependable means more than showing up—it means showing up prepared.
- You want to be part of building an exceptional caregiving team, not simply pick up another shift.
- You treat every client with the dignity and respect you would expect for someone you love.
If you read that and thought, “That's me,” keep reading.
What You'll Do
As a Rapid Response Caregiver, you'll be part of our flexible coverage team. Based on the availability you provide, we may contact you when an open or short-notice shift needs coverage.
When you accept a shift, we count on you to arrive as agreed and provide steady, compassionate, non-medical care—whether the client is someone you've met before or someone brand-new.
You will
- Provide compassionate companion and personal care according to the client's Care Plan.
- Assist with activities of daily living, personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, mobility, companionship, and other authorized non-medical services.
- Respond promptly to Rapid Response shift offers. Even when you aren't available, timely communication helps the entire team.
- Review the client's Care Plan and relevant instructions before providing care.
- Accurately document visits using our WellSky app, including required clock-in/out, visit documentation, and signatures.
- Observe changes or concerns and report them promptly according to agency procedures.
- Maintain client dignity, privacy, safety, and professional boundaries at all times.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, caregivers, and office team members.
The Rapid Response Standard
Rapid Response is a higher-trust caregiver designation.
It is intended for caregivers who have demonstrated
- Dependability and strong attendance
- Sound judgment
- Consistent communication
- Quality caregiving skills
- Accurate documentation
- Professionalism in clients' homes
- The ability to adapt quickly when circumstances change
Experienced caregivers may be considered for the Rapid Response designation after their skills, experience, and readiness have been evaluated.
If you're newer to professional caregiving, you're still welcome to apply. New caregivers typically begin on our standard caregiver track and can earn the Rapid Response designation by demonstrating the reliability, competency, and professionalism the role requires.
What You'll Need
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance
- Smartphone capable of using our scheduling and visit-documentation applications
- Ability to successfully complete required expanded or national criminal history background screening and other applicable employment screenings
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions required for assigned clients
- Strong communication skills and dependable attendance
- Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm when plans change
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States
Dementia Training
Caregivers selected for this track will complete dementia-focused training as part of their professional development. If you are not already certified, we'll help you complete the required training within your first three months.
