Job Description: Caregiver (Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. 2PM to 10PM shift)

A. Caregivers provide service to individuals in assisted living facilities, who need assistance caring for themselves because of old age, sickness, disability or other inflictions. Care giving may include assistance with the activities of daily living, housecleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companionship and respite.

B. Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant facility policies and health care standards.

Responsibilities/Activities

A. Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including:

- bathing - skin care - ambulation - vital signs and Blood Pressure

- mouth care - dressing - exercise - medication reminding

- hair care - shaving - toileting - positioning

- nail care - feeding - transferring

B. Ensure resident’s safety and security by supervising the home environment.

C. Teach/perform meal planning and preparation, routine housekeeping activities such as making/changing beds, dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning kitchen and bathroom, and laundry.

D. Provide companionship including social interactions, conversations, emotional reassurance and encouragement of activities that stimulate the mind.

E. Provides respite care for families in accordance with care plans.

F. Perform/assist with essential shopping/errands, which may include handling the resident’s money in accordance with the Service Plan and under the observation of the manager.

G. Assist residents with following a written, special diet plan and reinforcement of diet maintenance, which is provided under the direction of a physician and as identified on the service plan.

H. Escort residents to medical facilities, errands, shopping and outings as specified in the care plan.

I. Assist residents with communication by writing or typing correspondence for them or researching information for them.

J. Participate on the Service Plan team by providing input and making suggestions.

K. Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and practices.

L. Monitor supplies and resources.

M. Evaluate the program and make recommendations to it, as indicated.

N. Follow the written Service Plan.

O. Carry out duties as assigned by the manager.

P. Observe residents and their environments and reports unsafe conditions to manager.

Q. Observe residents and their environments and reports behavior, physical and/or cognitive changes and/or changes in living arrangements to manager.

R. Complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and direct hours of service.

S. Attend orientation, in-service training sessions and staff meetings.

T. Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

U. Make decisions and solve problems.

V. Communicate with the manager and co-workers.

W. Observe, receive and obtain information from relevant sources.

X. Performs other duties as required.

Required Knowledge

A. Knowledge of personal care and home management skills.

B. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal care services, including needs determinants, meeting quality standards and evaluation of resident satisfaction.

C. Knowledge of the English language.

D. Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries including emergency First Aid and CPR.

E. Knowledge of clerical procedures such as maintaining records and completing forms.

Qualifications/Education

A. Caregiver’s Certificate (to be verified by calling the issuing institution for validity).

B. Fingerprint Clearance Card.

C. Current TB 2 step test.

D. CPR and First Aid.

E. 2 Professional References and 2 Personal References.

F. Memory Care Initial 8hr coarse.

G. Continuing Education Units or In-Service (if applicable) to continue with employment.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
