Caregiver/Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview

As a Caregiver/Personal Care Assistant, you’ll provide attentive, respectful support that helps clients and residents with daily routines, comfort, and independence. You may work in home care, home and community care, group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings. Your impact: By following care plans and observing changes in well-being, you help clients and residents receive consistent support and communicate important needs to the care team.

Duties

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, safe transfers, and mobility; use a Hoyer lift and other equipment when trained and directed.
• Observe and monitor clients, report changes, and record vital signs as assigned. Follow care plans and support medication administration only as authorized.
• Prepare meals, cook, clean, and provide personal transportation assistance as assigned.
• Offer direct support and compassionate care to older adults and people with autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities, and other disabilities.
• Respect resident rights, protect privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and follow safety procedures, including first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) protocols.

Qualifications

• Patient care, caregiving, client communication, and patient observation skills; ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to perform manual handling, patient transfers, and required lifting safely.
• First aid and CPR credentials may be required for the role.
• Experience in home health, home care, senior care, geriatrics, hospice, or memory care—including Alzheimer’s or dementia care—is valuable.
• Group home, assisted living, nursing home, or long-term care experience is preferred, as is experience supporting people with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 40.0 per week
