Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, respectful, and person-centered care to retired religious sisters Residing in the retirement center. The CNA assists the Sisters with activities of daily living, promotes dignity and independence, monitors resident well-being and supports the mission and values of the religious community. Care is provided in a manner that respecks each sister’s physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Resident Care

Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.

Help residents with eating and hydration as needed.

Assist with transfers, positioning, ambulation, and use of mobility devices.

Provide restorative and supportive care according to individualized care plans.

Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.

Health

Monitoring

Observe and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive condition to licensed nursing staff.

Measure and record vital signs, weight, intake and output, and other assigned clinical information.

Document care accurately and promptly according to facility policies.

Respond appropriately to emergency situations and resident needs.

Resident Support and Engagement

Foster meaningful relationships with residents through respectful communication and compassionate presence.

Encourage participation in social, recreational, and spiritual activities according to individual preferences and abilities.

Assist residents in attending Mass, prayer services, community gatherings, medical appointments, and special events as needed.

Support residents' independence while ensuring safety and well-being.

Collaboration

Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, chaplains, and other members of the team.

Follow all facility policies, infection-control procedures, and safety regulations.
