Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home community care environments. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, including catheter care and dementia care, as well as the ability to work effectively in a teaching hospital or medical-surgical unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
• Provide catheter care and assist with other medical procedures as needed.
• Support patients with mobility and ensure their safety during transfers.
• Engage with patients to provide emotional support and companionship, particularly for those with dementia.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
• Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records, including systems like Cerner.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Experience

• Previous experience in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of physiology and basic medical terminology is essential.
• Familiarity with patient care practices related to dementia care is highly desirable.
• Experience using electronic health record systems such as Cerner is a plus.
• A commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered care in various environments including teaching hospitals and home community care settings.
