Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Caregiver to join our team in Torrance. In this role, you will provide daily support for a friendly, highly active 34-year-old African American man with cerebral palsy who lives at home with his mother.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with physical disabilities, safely assisting with transfers, and providing calm, consistent support. He is very nice and has had long-term caregivers in the past who have been with him for a long-time because they really liked working with him.

Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

This client is very active and participates in an outing or activity every day. Your core duties will include:

• Mobility & Outings: The client walks with a walker but uses a wheelchair for outings. You will assist him into his wheelchair, guide him up the ramp into his modified van, and drive the van to his scheduled activities (e.g., a specialized gym). You will remain on-site in the waiting area while he participates.
• Transfer Assistance: Providing safe, hands-on help with daily transfers (he is not a heavy transfer, but experience with transfer techniques is required).
• Personal Care: Assisting with a handheld urinal as needed during the day. *(Note: His mother assists with his morning bowel routine).*
• Safety & Household: Providing fall-risk supervision, general safety monitoring, and light housekeeping related directly to the client’s care.
• Pet Care Note: Please be aware that there is a cat in the home.
