Restorative Aide (CNA Required)

Job Summary

The Restorative Aide will be responsible for delivering rehabilitative and therapeutic services ordered and supervised by licensed medical staff and in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. Assists residents to achieve or maintain their highest practicable level of ADL function through consistent, structured and controlled re-teaching and retraining techniques to promote increased participation in activities of daily living.

Principal Responsibilities

* Provides restorative nursing tasks such as ambulation, range of motion, positioning, self-feeding, etc. within the scope of the training; Utilizes restorative techniques including verbal cueing, task sequencing, hand over hand, prompting, guarding, etc.; Promotes greatest degree of independence possible for residents.

* Assists residents with their physical needs including eating, bowel, and bladder training, and assistance following incontinence but encourages residents to perform these functions themselves to their capacity or ability; Participates actively in retraining programs for these functions.

* Observes and reports on resident’s conditions and documents observations as required. Contributes knowledge of the resident’s conditions/needs to resident care plans; Documents restorative exercises and weekly summaries as required.

* Assist in the care and maintenance of therapy area and equipment. Assures that equipment is clean and functional.

* Assists with lifting, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., in keeping with specific resident safety needs; Assists residents in preparation for and transporting to appointments, activities and social programs
