Position Summary

The Activity Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing a comprehensive activity and life enrichment program for residents in both Assisted Living and Memory Care. This role requires creativity, leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a genuine passion for working with seniors, including those living with dementia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a monthly activities calendar that promotes physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being.
  • Plan and lead engaging daily activities, special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and entertainment.
  • Design meaningful, person-centered programming for residents with memory impairment using dementia-friendly approaches.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule activity staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct resident assessments to identify interests, abilities, and activity preferences.
  • Encourage resident participation while adapting programs to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Coordinate community outings and transportation when applicable.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dining, and other departments to provide a holistic resident experience.
  • Maintain activity documentation and ensure compliance with state regulations and community policies.
  • Manage department budget, supplies, and vendor relationships.
  • Build partnerships with local organizations, entertainers, schools, and volunteers to enhance programming.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing activities in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, or Long-Term Care.
  • Experience developing dementia-focused programming is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate staff and create a fun, engaging environment.
  • Experience supervising activity personnel is preferred.
  • Knowledge of state regulations related to resident activities.
