Our homes provide high-quality, personalized care in a calm, family like environment with a low resident to caregiver ratio, allowing staff to focus on meaningful relationships and quality care rather than large facility workloads.

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Companions to provide essential support and assistance to our residents in need. As a Care Companion, you will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for our beloved residents by assisting with daily activities and providing companionship that is specialized for each residents needs.

Duties

• Have FUN and maintain a positive and up-beat atmosphere!
• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual care plan.
• Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment for our residents allows and encourages residents to do as much of their own care as possible while encouraging socialization and participation in community activities.
• Knows the location of each resident and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.
• Maintains residents’ records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with Village Forest Care Cottage policy and procedures; documents medication distribution as applicable, leisure activities, incidents, and observations; reports any changes in resident’s physical condition and/or behavior, and visitors; observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each resident; and promptly reports all changes to the Administrator.
• Assists residents with medication as defined in medication procedure; assists or supervises residents who self-administer medication; follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications with the supervision of the delegating registered nurse; and exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures.
• Coordinate the preparation and serving of resident meals when needed.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents; performs general housekeeping; and follows cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchen, and other areas. Required daily tasks must be signed off at each shift by incoming and outgoing Caregiver.
• Initiates and participates in leisure activities provided for residents as described in the activity calendar and encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs to develop friendships with other residents.
• Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance.
