Assisted Living Medication Technician -On Call Only for PM & NOC shift

I.

The primary purpose of the Resident Medication Assistant (RMA) position is to assist residents with the self administration of medications as ordered by the primary physician, under the direction and supervision of the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, Wellness Nurse, or Executive Director. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established residential care standards, policies, procedures and practices of this community and required by RCFE rules and regulations.

II.

A. Follow the policies and procedures of the community governing administration of medications.

B. Note and report medication administration errors to appropriate supervisor.

C. Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason for refusal.

D. Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, dated order from the physician or physician extender.

E. Provides companion care which can include reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, assisting with bill paying or other tasks as listed on resident’s plan of care.

F. Provides or assists in bathing or showering for thorough cleanliness and hygiene of residents.

G. Makes beds, straightens rooms and keeps resident care area in an organized manner.
