Position Summary

The 1st Shift PCA / Med Tech is responsible for providing direct care and assistance to residents while promoting dignity, independence, safety, and comfort. This position is responsible for assisting with morning routines, personal care, meals, toileting, showers, medication administration when assigned as Med Tech, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents.

The 1st shift team sets the tone for the day and is expected to work together, communicate effectively, and ensure residents are up, clean, dressed, and ready for meals, appointments, activities, and daily routines.

Essential PCA Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, incontinence care, transfers, mobility, and meal assistance.
• Complete assigned resident get-ups in a timely manner.
• Ensure residents are clean, dry, dressed appropriately, and presentable for the day.
• Toilet residents every 2 hours and as needed.
• Answer call lights promptly and respectfully.
• Assist residents to and from the dining room, activities, appointments, and common areas.
• Assist with showers as assigned and complete proper documentation.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition, behaviors, pain, weakness, skin concerns, falls, or any unusual symptoms.
• Report concerns immediately to the Med Tech, supervisor, Director of Resident Care, or Administrator.
• Complete rounds and safety checks as assigned.
• Maintain resident rooms by removing trash, soiled briefs, and soiled linens.
• Complete assigned room tidies and ensure rooms are neat, safe, and free of clutter.
