Position Summary

The 2nd Shift PCA / Med Tech is responsible for providing direct care and support to residents during the afternoon and evening hours. This position assists residents with personal care, toileting, meals, showers, activities, evening routines, medication administration when assigned as Med Tech, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.

The 2nd shift team is responsible for ensuring residents are cared for throughout the evening, properly toileted, assisted with supper, prepared for bed as needed, and left clean, dry, comfortable, and safe before the end of the shift.

Essential PCA Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including toileting, incontinence care, dressing, grooming, bathing, oral care, transfers, mobility, and meal assistance.
• Toilet residents every 2 hours and as needed.
• Change residents promptly when wet or soiled.
• Complete assigned showers and document completion.
• Assist residents to and from supper, activities, common areas, and their rooms.
• Assist residents with evening routines, including changing into pajamas, washing face and hands, oral care, and preparing for bed.
• Complete assigned lay-downs and ensure residents are positioned safely and comfortably.
• Answer call lights promptly and respectfully.
• Complete rounds and safety checks as assigned.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition, behaviors, pain, weakness, skin concerns, falls, or any unusual symptoms.
• Report concerns immediately to the Med Tech, Supervisor, Director of Resident Care, or Administrator.
• Maintain resident rooms by removing trash, soiled briefs, and soiled linens.
