Lead Caregiver

The Lead Caregiver position is a mix between in office support as well as working with our clients in the field. This leadership role is ideal for someone who has hands on experience working with home care clients, a strong background in medically complex clients as well as vast dementia care background. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable and energetic individual to add to our team within Cook, DuPage and Will counties.

The lead caregiver will be ready to step in and provide hands-on care, guide and educate our caregivers as well as provide support with the clients and office team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with starting care for new clients
• Respond promptly to last-minute or emergency shifts
• Provide patient care and personal care assistance, including activities of daily living (ADLs), meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and personal transportation assistance.
• Observe and monitor residents, follow care plans, and promptly communicate changes or concerns.
• Train and coach fellow caregivers
• Use safe manual handling and patient transfer methods, including a Hoyer lift when trained and appropriate; follow first aid and safety procedures as qualified.
• Provide dementia support for clients and caregivers

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience caregiving, nursing, senior care, geriatrics, or patient care experience is relevant. Experience in assisted living, group homes, nursing homes, long-term care, home health, home care, hospice, or home and community care is valuable.
• Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, patient observation and monitoring, care plans, medication administration, resident rights, HIPAA is an asset.
• Ability to assist with ADLs, meal preparation, cleaning, transfers, and heavy lifting safely.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current CNA, LPN or RN license
• Valid drivers license, insurance and reliable transportation
• Be able to work within southern Cook, DuPage and Will counties
• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
• Must pass a background check and provide professional references.
