Resident Assistant Caregiver

Job Summary

As a Resident Assistant Caregiver, you’ll provide respectful, hands-on support that helps residents maintain comfort, dignity, and daily routines. You’ll assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, meals, and safe movement while communicating clearly with residents and the care team. Your impact: Consistent, person-centered care helps residents feel supported and participate as fully as possible in daily life.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and other personal care needs; follow safe patient lifting and manual handling practices, including when heavy lifting is required.
• Support medication administration as authorized, observe and report changes, and take vital signs as assigned.
• Prepare meals, clean shared spaces, and provide direct support using appropriate behavior management approaches.
• Respect each resident’s rights, preferences, privacy, and care plan; communicate patiently with residents and colleagues.
• Provide attentive support for senior care, geriatrics, memory care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and residents with developmental, cognitive, or other disabilities.

Qualifications

• Caregiving, client communication, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills are important; first aid and CPR certification may be required for the role.
• Relevant experience may include assisted living, nursing homes, long-term care, home and community care, home care, residential care homes, personal care homes, group homes, or retirement homes.
• Experience with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs, memory or dementia care, direct support, meal preparation, cleaning, and safe lifting is valuable.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive and developmental disabilities is welcome.
• A valid ability to drive a standard passenger car may be needed for assigned duties.
