Caregiver/Personal Care Assistant

Job Overview

As a Caregiver/Personal Care Assistant in New Hanover County, you’ll provide attentive, respectful support that helps clients and residents maintain comfort, safety, and independence. You may work in home care, home and community care, group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or other long-term care settings. Your impact: By following care plans and noticing changes in a person’s condition, you help clients, residents, and their care teams respond to needs promptly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, mobility, transfers, and manual handling; use a Hoyer lift when trained and directed.
• Support meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and personal transportation assistance as assigned.
• Observe and monitor clients, report changes, and document care, vital signs, and medication administration according to care plans and applicable procedures.
• Provide compassionate support for senior care, geriatrics, dementia, Alzheimer’s, memory care, hospice, and individuals with autism, developmental, intellectual, neurodevelopmental, or other disabilities.
• Communicate respectfully with clients, families, and care teams; protect privacy and uphold residents’ rights and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 40.0 per week
