Home Health Aide (HHA)

Overview

As a Home Health Aide, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of assistance. Your compassionate care will empower clients to maintain their independence while receiving the support they require in their homes. You’ll work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver personalized care that meets each individual's unique needs.

What you’ll do

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Monitor and document vital signs, ensuring accurate medical records are maintained.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
• Administer medications as prescribed and assist with catheter care when necessary.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to document patient care and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
• Implement memory care techniques for clients with Alzheimer’s or dementia, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry.
• Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment like Hoyer lifts as needed.

Basic qualifications

• Experience in patient care or caregiving roles, particularly in home health or long-term care settings.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid to respond effectively in emergencies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice care.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient documentation and communication.
• Strong observational skills to identify changes in client conditions promptly.
