Day Shift Caregiver

Overview

As a Day Shift Caregiver, you’ll provide attentive, respectful support that helps residents and clients stay safe, comfortable, and engaged throughout the day. You may work in a home care, assisted living, residential care, or other long-term care setting, supporting older adults and people with disabilities. Your impact: By providing consistent personal care and clear communication, you help residents and clients maintain dignity and participate in daily life.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, dressing, and mobility, using safe patient lifting and manual handling practices.
• Prepare meals, support medication administration as authorized, and record vital signs as assigned.
• Provide dementia, Alzheimer’s, and memory care; use behavior management approaches suited to each person’s needs.
• Communicate with residents, clients, families, and care teams while respecting resident rights.
• Keep living areas clean, provide direct support, and follow first aid and emergency procedures.

Experience

• Caregiving, senior care, or geriatrics experience is valuable. Relevant settings include assisted living, nursing homes, long-term care, home and community care, home care, group homes, personal care homes, residential care homes, and retirement homes.
• Experience assisting people with developmental, cognitive, or other disabilities is welcome, including direct support and dementia care.
• Knowledge of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), medication administration, vital signs, and safe lifting practices is an asset.
• Able to communicate clearly, handle physical tasks including heavy lifting when required, and operate a standard passenger car if the role requires travel.

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
