Caregiver/Homemaker

Overview

The Homemaker plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in their homes or community settings. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and promoting overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Provide patient care and support for individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism.
• Prepare meals and assist with meal planning while considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
• Maintain a clean and organized living space by performing household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes to appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
• Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
• Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while providing care.

Skills

• First aid and CPR certification is preferred to ensure safety during caregiving tasks.
• Experience in home health, hospice care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is highly valued.
• Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in clients' conditions promptly.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
